  • Two Days - FileMaker Pro Database Training. (Free web accessible tracking database. Alumni self report and search for colleagues!)

    This computer lab workshop will provide valuable tips and suggestions for designing databases to manage information on tracking, program grades, test scores, performance reports, service contacts, counseling notes, applicant data, including counts and summaries for students, gender, school totals, ethnicity counts and more. We will use FileMaker Pro software to learn the following skills to provide a running start for participants wanting to design their own custom program database when they return to their institutions. Participants will receive a free pre-designed web accessible alumni tracking database searchable by classmates. Use FileMaker Pro's easy, built-in web companion tool and be up and running in minutes. Modify the web pages, pop up menus, and fields yourself WITHOUT using web authoring software.

    During the two-day workshop participants will:

    Learn basic database terminology
    Create database fields; text, numeric, calculation
    Discover field options; auto-enter, character limitation, range, user restrictions
    Make pop-up menus; radio buttons, check boxes
    Learn how multiple users can use the database simultaneously
    Import student photos
    Search and sort subgroups of participants
    Create Instant data counts and summaries (ie. school totals, gender, ethnicity, grade level, status, etc.)
    Designing data entry screens, report tables, and forms
    Make instant mailing labels
    Mail merge participant data into form letters
    Learn advanced report and form topics
    Learn sample code conversions for performance reports
    Create database menus for staff ease of use and navigation.
    Install passwords for protection and staff control

    This computer lab workshop will review the customizable "Solutions" databases for TRIO programs designed by Performance Plus on FileMaker Pro software and how to use FileMaker Pro database software. Participants will navigate through the "Solutions" program screens, enter data, generate tables and listings, create performance reports, make new fields, new screens, and reports. The second day will focus on how to fully utilize the power of FileMaker Pro software. Each participant will receive a free service logs database, network ready with remote access. The value and quality of this tool was recently recognized by a U.S. Department of Education staff member during a TRIO program site visit. NOTE: Topics can modified based upon participant needs and requests.

    This computer lab workshop will review the customizable "Solutions" databases for TRIO programs designed on FileMaker Pro software by Performance Plus. Participants will navigate through the program screens, enter data, generate tables and listings, and create performance reports. We will also learn how to customize the "Solutions" databases to fit an individual programs needs in their area.

We will use FileMaker Pro software to learn the following skills to provide a running start for participants wanting to design their own custom program database when they return to their institutions. Participants will receive a free pre-designed services and stipends database for calculating hours, contacts, and stipend amounts for an individual, group, or counselor.

    During the one-day workshop participants will:

    Connect a database to the internet for remote access
